Vetiver Essential Oil

Product: Vetiver Essential Oil 100% Pure

Latin Name:  Vetivera Zizanioides

Country of Origin: China

Extraction Method:  Steam Distilled

Parts Used: Root

Description: Vetiver essential oil is a tropical grass grown in several Southeast Asian countries, which has fragrant leaves and roots.  It is extracted from the chopped roots by steam distillation, and yields a dark brown, viscous oil with an earth, woody, smoky aroma, similar to that of Patchouli.  Vetiver essential oil is used in perfumery as a fixative, and as a base for certain "woody" perfumes. 

Common Uses:  Vetiver essential oil is widely reputed to be a remedy for headaches, arthritis, and rheumatism.  Decoctions of the roots are also used to soothe fevers.  They are sometimes used for their insect-repellent properties, and recent research is proving that some components of Vetiver essential oil are helpful in repelling termites.

Common Applications:

Confusion and nervous anxiety:  With a finger, put 1 drop of undiluted Vetiver essential oil onto the solar plexus area, just below the bottom of the sternum, and gently massage the oil in.  Rub the remaining oil from your finger onto your palms and inhale deeply from them.  Blending 1 drop of Lavender essential oil with the Vetiver oil will sweeten the aroma. 

Muscular tension and joint pain:  Add 3 drops of Vetiver essential oil to 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and gently massage the tense or painful area.  If there is time, ask someone to do a full body massage to help reduce the tension.

Itchy Skin:  Add 5 drops of Vetiver essential oil to 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil. and apply gently to the affected area.  Repeat morning and evening or as needed. 

Blends well with the following essential oils:

Cedarwood, Chamomile, Frankincense, Ginger, Jasmine, Juniper, Lavender, Lemongrass, Patchouli, Rose, Sandalwood, Spikenard, Vanilla, and Ylang-ylang. 

Important:

Due to FDA regulations our oils are being sold for external use only. Use with caution if pregnant or breast feeding as well as for babies or small children and pets, as it can be toxic in higher doses. May cause irritation to sensitive skin, however it is rare. Please do a patch test on the back of your wrist before applying in large amounts.
